Wow!! I just spent 4.5 hours reading this epic novel and it was fabulous. I admit to being a fan of M.K. Eidem and of this series and this book was the best so far (I have a feeling I'm going to say that about all future books too)! This is the story of Jacinda and King Jotham, two long widowed characters who find the final loves of their lives. This is what makes the book special to me. It's not an insta-love, melodramatic piece of fluff. This book has two fully-fledged characters who have complex emotions and real challenges to overcome. Many characters from Cassandra's Challenge and Victoria's Challenge are woven into the story, giving us a look into their current lives and setting up future stories. We are also introduced to new characters, notably Jacinda's adult children. The writing was very good, only a few errors (possibly due to editing out a line and forgetting to change the sentence before or after), and the story never really dragged or felt rushed. In theory, this book could be read as a standalone, but is richly enhanced by the two previous books in the series. 10/10 stars, will definitely re-read, probably this week!

Jacinda Challenge Challenge Series Book 3 edition by MK Eidem Romance eBooks Reviews

I love that Michelle writes books long enough to actually tell a story. This was an amazing love story of two mature adults finding love for the second time. Characters and events from prior books were tied in perfectly. All of Michelle's books are worth reading and then rereading over and over again.
Your killing me here one adventure at a time. I love it and I hate it at the same time. Now we need the Prince and his story, and Deffand 's story. And so on. I know you have a life but please find time in it for more of this world that's so much like ours, and yet not.
To someone who has not read any of this series I would really recommend you get the first one as it will give you a lot of background that will really fill in the blanks that you'll find by reading them out of order.
I don't give details cause then why would you need to buy the book? I will tell you that I enjoyed it greatly, the characters are fully formed and have real personalities even the ones that are behind the scenes so to speak. Get the books, enjoy I did, and will again these are definitely in my re-read collection.
It just keeps getting better and better. I love this series! I felt bad in the first two books for Jotham who lost the love of his life early on in their union, but now he gets a second chance with Jacinda who has also lost her husband. This was no less enthralling for the middle age years of the characters. I loved Jacinda's strength and conviction and the fact that she wasn't afraid to stand up to Jotham and tell him he was out of line. Jacinda was definitely no doormat and I loved that about her. I hate those TSTL heroines that complain and whine all the time and can't seem to put on their big girl panties and deal with their life. Jotham will NEVER have to worry about that with Jacinda. She is perfect for him.

I will admit to being a bit disappointed in Cassandra in this book. After everything that she and Victoria went through in the first two books, and for how she criticized Jotham for pre-judging her relationship with William in the first book, she was pretty quick to judge Jacinda without giving her the benefit of the doubt like she felt Jotham should have done with her and William. I think that only bothered me because it bordered on being hypocritical and I hate hypocrites, but then I realized I was being a bit over the top considering this was just a story! LOL

I liked how Jacinda was willing to go out of her way to help Victoria's mom (Cyndi) and her brother (Bret) when they felt like they weren't fitting in well in the new world they found themselves in. I liked the little snippets of the other characters in this book as well and can only hope she has plans for books for Barack, Amina, and Deffand in the works.

Great job on a wonderful addition to a series I have fallen in love with!
This was a lot more story than a typical romance has, so despite having way too many repetitive sex scenes that you can skip over, there was a lot of story development and I felt I definitely got my money's worth. I liked the main and side characters and felt they had their strengths and weaknesses. I definitely want to read about the rest of the characters to see them get their HEA.

While the POV alternated between the two main characters, various paragraphs showed you other people's thoughts which let you get inside all the characters' heads at some point, including the villains'. While the glimpses of the villains tended to be a bit overly dramatic, I did like the approach overall.

I also found it an interesting choice to have an older guy - so many of these are about the young, awesome commander who realistically would still be wiping down corridors. It made the character feel more believable that he'd be in his position in the fleet at the age he was. I also liked that the age difference wasn't a problem with the couple involved, only some of their enemies. Too many times it's used as a crutch to keep the couple apart. This story was different. Oh they had their fights and disagreements, but the majority of strife was about external factors trying to pry them apart. It was nice to see strong unity - that whole defy the world to be with my true love kind of thing going on.

The true love did start too early for my liking, but at least they were both unsettled at first, then denying it for a few chapters before the inevitable lust at first sight happened - longer than most romances like this anyway. There wasn't a stupid dumbstruck moment when they first set eyes on each other or the shock when they touch clichés either which was refreshing.

There was plenty of action and intrigue as to who dunnit and I liked the extra complications thrown in. There were quite a few characters in the story - both protagonists and antagonists - which made it read more like a sci-fi story rather than simply a romance with a little side action tossed in. While the villains might have resorted to a bit too much cartoony bwahaha, they did have reasonable reasons for why they did what they did which I always appreciate rather than just being evil for evil's sake. I felt all the characters were fairly believable, though perhaps the heroine was a bit too strong (though it was really fun watching her put everyone in their place, so I was definitely enjoying it).

The sci-fi is a bit cheesy at times and borrowed from Star Trek in spots but in other ways it had unique world building - I especially liked the rainbow rain. Much of the alien culture is similar to Earth's which is explained, but I rather wished the author had gone full out and developed an entire culture instead of borrowing ours and simply tweaking it since the author has a really good imagination.

I definitely ended with a desire to read the other books in the series and will check out the author's other works. I hope they are all beefy since I really do enjoy story with my romance. If you aren't bothered by a few scattered grammar issues and are looking for a lot of story then you may want to check this story out.
