I‘ve read the whole book but it was really difficult in some parts. Unfortunately it did not live up to my expectations- for one I thought that the main character should have a knack for logical thinking, which he did not. Second, he was also extremely unlikable. He pretty much just cared about himself, even after some reveal and guilt he acted the same or worse than before.
Mr. R seemed to be a little bit smarter, but lost all of my admiration after he/they found out that Ricky was still alive.
I am not sure if I missed something but I’ve been waiting for a simple “Game Over - I still have all of your family’s names and adresses and when I go over to your cousin x and kill him, it will be on you Ricky-boy” - letter...but even though that situation never changed, it never came up again. It really bugged me (amongst other things, but to me at least that one seemed to be the most obvious).
So, if you have nothing else to read, it has some good elements and is a fast read. But it’s not really on my “recommendation list”.

Not finished yet but good twists and entertaining
great , me and my girlfriend like different readings, but we are very interested on this book.
This book is one of the best psychological thrillers I've read in a long time. The mind trips throughout the book will leave you frustrated, angry and wanting vengeance. A roller coaster ride watching all the way to resolution? Read it and find out.
"I envy you the experience of reading this book for the first time." That's the note to the reader in the intro pages of "First Blood" (David Morrell) and this is the first time I can restate those words. YOU HAVE GOT TO READ THIS NOVEL. It is the BEST hunter-hunted story of all time. It is fiendishly clever. If you're tired of the same old formula guy-on-run-with-a-beautiful-babe-at-his-side, then look no further. An extemely compelling and tightly crafted tale, you will also get an unusually rich character study of a man who finds himself in the most extreme nightmare, and so he must finally act with extraordinary measures, or perish. A couple of the reviewers who wanted the story shorter should stick to the shlock shoot-em-ups. This is the rare novel that when you finish it, you'll just sit there saying, "Wow, what a story." Then you'll be bummed that it's over. You've got to read this book -- you will not be let down. Mr. Katzenbach, I tip my hat to you.
This book got me hooked! I couldn't stop reading it.

It's the story of an analyst who couldn't help a patient and unfortunately committed suicide. The son is looking for revenge but by stalking and mentally torturing him.

He has to take the hard decision of changing his life and who he is to get off the radar and follow this man.

I wont tell you more because I will be ruining the book for you!

But believe me ... you won't put it down!
This has to be the best thriller I've ever read. I was surprised at some of the negative ratings and then realized those reviewers were expecting an all-action book along the lines of what Mary Higgins Clark writes.
The Analyst does have action and suspense - lots of it - but what sets it apart is the character development.
At the beginning of the book, we meet Dr. Frederick Stark, a Freudian psychoanalyst with a private practice in Manhattan, catering to the neuroses of the rich, famous and miserable. Dr. Starck is isolated socially and professionally - he has no friemds, is estranged from his relatives, barely knows his professional colleagues - so when the threat arrives, he has no-one to turn to. As the clock ticks towards his stalker's deadline and his reactions against the threat are ineffectual, he realizes there is only one way to save his life... and that is to become a completely different person...
Loved it, and stayed up way past midnight to finish it.
Although I felt there were a few plot holes at the beginning, I have to admit that I still enjoyed this book immensely. Psychoanalyst Dr. Frederick Starks, who is at the heart of this one, is being threatened by someone connected to his past in some way. Poor Dr. Starks is given the choice between killing himself within 15 days or facing the reality that those he knows will be picked off one by one, randomly and suddenly, by someone known only as "Rumplestiltskin" (or by one of his accomplices).
In the meantime, Rumplestiltskin wreaks havoc on Stark's life, destroying his credit, cancelling bank accounts, even murdering ex-patients. To his credit, author John Katzenbach keeps the clues coming while upping the tension at the same time.
I felt like Dr. Stark's life had become something out of the Twilight Zone, one which no longer contained the normal perameters which many of us take for granted. His home is no longer a haven (Rumplestiltskin invades it at will), his computer and tax records are stoken, even his accounts are up for grabs. All this, of course, takes a toll and Dr. Stark begins to feel the stress. Can Dr. Stark find the madman behind all this before he himself unravels? I couldn't stop reading till I found out.
