The result is his unjust imprisonment under ghoulish conditions. While the delights of Assassin are many, especially the Hitchcockian thrills and manifest wit, this novella rises above mere entertainment. Roccasalvo never dodges the tough, ethical questions that confront an assassin and a priest. Tougher still is the ending that elicits shock and catharsis. Whatever the reader’s literary tastes, I highly recommend Island of Assassin. There’s something for everyone.

This is a well written thriller - I was engaged by each page. The characters are well developed and the plot moves well. Also, the descriptions of the scenery are masterfully done. Most of all, this novel is a very relevant in today's world as it examines the moral dilemma of how the international community is fighting terrorism. I recommend the Island of the Assassin for any person that values quality literature.
As an individual who has studied international affairs and a few languages, this excellent thriller hit close to home. I am certain that national security aficionados in particular will thoroughly enjoy and appreciate Kai's tale that cerebrally blends aspects of both international relations and religion while somehow managing to evoke a range of emotions in the reader. I highly recommend this book for those who find themselves with more than a handful of interests, as Roccasalvo is able to seamlessly touch a wide spectrum of concepts—a commendable feat.
First time reader of a Joseph Roccasalvo novel and must say I enjoyed it. I felt the mixture of characters, that I was drawn to, moral issues and intrigue made this a good read. I have recommended this to others to read. Would like to see this continued as a series.
